Theories On Aging

Mikhail Blagoskloony has some interesting and unorthodox views on aging. His view is that certain stresses can actually increase lifespan such as caloric restriction and exercise. He does not believe that free radicals and COR is responsible for most disease and aging. Instead he believes that aging is caused by the TOR response which is triggered by food and hormones as part of the body’s natural growth and biological processes. Slowing down the TOR response and increasing resistance to stress through hormesis is the key to increasing lifespan and preventing aging diseases according to Dr. Mikhail Blagoskloony and his research.

Labaton Sucharow’s Client has something to Smile About

One of the clients of Lubaton Sucharow is sitting pretty after his lawyers were able to secure for him a sizeable amount of money. The client reported financial impropriety in a certain high-profile case. The client was awarded a little over $17 million owing to SEC whistleblower attorneys’ hard work. The whistleblower program, now only 6 years old, is paying the second individual in its six year operation. In successful cases of enforcement, the involved whistleblower is entitled to between 10 to 30 percent of the monetary sanctions that are collected.

In most cases whistleblowers prefer to keep their identities concealed and this was not an exception. Anonymity ensures that one avoids blacklisting coupled with retaliation. The SEC is also keen to respect the decision of the whistleblower to remain unknown and as such does not name specific cases in which the whistleblower was involved. Jordan, speaking publicly lauded his client’s bravery which came at a time when many preferred too sweep such matters under the rug to avoid trouble. Jordan is optimistic that many more will come forward encouraged by recent events.

SEC Whistle Blower Program

A new whistle blower program was established in the U.S under the Dodd-Frank Act. This law meant the overhaul of other regulations that had existed since the great depression. The Dodd act established a whistleblower program which protected the employment of those who spoke out against violations of federal securities laws. These violations were reported to the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC).

The whistleblower program, by allowing whistleblowers to be anonymous and at the same time guaranteeing them employment protections and monetary awards, will in future attract others who witness and fail to report wrongdoing in the financial service industry. Congress in its determination to ensure there are enough funds to pay awards established a Protection fund whose current balance is over $400 million.

Whistle Blower Lawyers

Labaton Sucharow practice was first to establish itself as an advocate and protector of SEC whistleblowers. Jordan A. Thomas, who worked in a department charged with SEC enforcement, leads this law firm in protecting the whistle blowers. Jordan, now an SEC whistle blower attorney, worked tirelessly as leader of the team helping in developing a whistleblower program. His enthusiasm produced the proposed legislation.

The first public company officer to be awarded by the SEC was represented by Jordan A. Thomas., an SEC whistle blower lawyer. He was also active in a case where an employer was charged with retaliation against a former employee turned whistleblower.

Nathaniel Ru: Successful Evolution to a New Model

In recent news, the co-founders of Sweetgreen are creating a new model for fast food. As a matter of fact, many Legacy restaurant companies would love to look a lot like Sweetgreen is they could start from scratch. That’s because Sweetgreen is a high-end salad chain with 40 locations, and they sell organic, fresh, and healthy food. And with their delicious, healthy, and trendy recipes, diners maintain long lines at all their Sweetgreen’s locations.

According to Nathaniel Ru, one of the co-founders of Sweetgreen, they are producing a brand which stands for something, and they want to feed better food to more people. He also stated that technology has always been part of them. Therefore, traditional chains could learn this important aspect from them as well.

Another distinction of Sweetgreen is the fact that they don’t have a headquarters. Ru said that they don’t believe in huge corporate headquarters, and they desire to decentralize their headcount. With no headquarters, Ru and the other co-founders, Nicolas Jammet and Jonathan Neman, are bicoastal as they pursue growing their company nationally.

The co-founders of this chain met and graduated at Georgetown University. But before graduating they noticed a need in the food market concerning the lack of healthy eating options. And thus, they teamed up to open their first restaurant right after they graduated. The restaurant opened in August 2007.

In this recent news, questions were also asked to Nathaniel Ru, including the advice he would give his 20 year old self, the most complicated thing about managing, the CEO he most admire that isn’t in the same industry, and his best restaurant besides Sweetgreen. He stated that he would tell his 20 year old self to read more books even the ones he may think he doesn’t have time for. When it comes to managing, he said the hardest thing was when he and the other co-founders would take on every role for the company. Additionally, he looks up to the CEO of Under Armour, Kevin Plank, and his other favorite restaurant is Johnny Monis’ Little Serow of DC which sells great Northern Thai food.
